Orange Tour 2017, literally changed my life! How? Well, I have the honor of being a part of the blogging team with Orange and I really love all the relationships and connections I have made while being a part of this group. But in 2017, I experienced the hardship of having my ministry position cut and I left a ministry without a new one to walk into. I spent a few months seeking God for the next direction and truly felt God leading me from serving in just children’s ministry to having a greater vision and becoming a Next Gen or Family Life pastor.
Little did I know what God had in store for me when “I decided” attend the Pittsburgh stop at the last-minute. I went not knowing anyone and normally I try to attend the Detroit stop where I have lots of friends and connections. I sat in on some great as usual talks from Doug Fields and others and it was during the lunch break where I saw lots of teams gather, laughing, debriefing and making deeper relationships. I was there alone. But, God used a lunch meeting where Ted Lowe was sharing about the Married People project to allow me to meet a staff member from a church literally an hour and a half south of where I lived.
We chatted at the end of Ted’s session and he asked for my resume when he found out I was searching for a new place to serve. I actually had brought some with me and handed one to him. Long story short within 33 days I was hired on staff to be a Family Life Director of a growing campus at a multi-site church. God was so amazing and I’m leaving out some great parts of the story but, trust me when I say, God can do amazing, unexpected things at Orange Tour! Your team can re-ignite their passion for ministry, gain greater vision for what could be, or learn some new thing to implement and what God can do through that kind of faith.
God can change the direction of your’s and many others lives if you will just take a step in his direction. Orange Tour may not bring you a new job, (who knows???) but it will help you and your team learn to come together with one voice and one dream to change the next generation!
